A 50 year old woman with abdominal discomfort after cholecystectomy

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
2.) How would you proceed to find out her diagnosis? What tests could be done?

Diagnostic evaluation:

Ultrasound: look for fluid collection or dilated ducts

CT scan: look for fluid collection or dilated ducts

HIDA scan: failure of contrast to pass into duodenum and contrast filling fluid collection

ERCP: define level of injury

PTC: possible if intrahepatic biliary radicles dilated; defines high injuries to guide repair
