This 62 year old male underwent emergency open cholecystectomy

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
7.) What tests should be ordered for this patient?

Tests needed in this patient:

  1. Initial tests: chest X-ray, CBC

  2. Any tests needed to rule out other causes of fever such as urinalysis

  3. Sputum cultures usually show pharyngeal organisms but may show a predominant organism

  4. Tracheal aspirates and bronchial secretions not required in
    postoperative pneumonia
