A 56 year old with abdominal pain

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
5.) Is there a role for surgical management? If so, what are the indications?

Indications for surgical management of chronic pancreatitis:

  • Intractable pain

  • Obstruction of common duct or duodenum or colon

  • Pseudocyst with symptoms

  • Carcinoma suspected

  • Splenic vein obstruction with left sided portal hypertension

  • Portal vein obstruction with portal hypertension
