COLORECTAL DISEASE
Case #8 -
A 55 year old male with 3 months rectal bleeding

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
11.) What are the two procedures used to perform radical resection?

A low anterior resection with anastomosis may be performed if adequate distal margin may be obtained and the sphincter tone and function is normal. Otherwise for very low lesions, an abdominoperineal resection is needed with permanent colostomy.
