A 55 year old male with 3 months rectal bleeding

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
5.) What are the roles of endoscopic ultrasound, colonoscopy, and rigid proctoscopy in this evaluation?

Diagnostic evaluation:

a. Colonoscopy: to identify lesion and allow biopsy; to detect other lesions

b. Rigid proctoscopy: to measure the level of the inferior margin of the lesion

c. Endoscopic ultrasound: to observe depth of invasion of the lesion and presence

of perirectal nodes.
