DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
2.) What is the origin of most anal fistulas?

Most fistulas-en-ano are of cryptoglandular origin, resulting from an infection of an anal gland in the intersphincteric plane forming an abscess. This abscess may spread along one of several planes into perianal or perirectal spaces.
