6.) What is Goodsall's rule regarding the external fistula opening?
|
Goodsall's rule states that if the external opening of the fistula track is anterior to a transverse line drawn through the anus, the tract will be short, direct, and radial to the internal opening. If the external opening is posterior to this line, the tract is curvilinear with the internal opening in the posterior midline. Any external opening greater than 3 centimeters from the anus does not routinely follow the rules.
