COLORECTAL DISEASE
Case #9 -
28 year old male presents with purulent drainage

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
7.) Once you diagnose an anal fistula, what are the treatment options? What governs your choice of therapy?

A fistulotomy (opening the track) may be done if this divides less than 30% of the sphincter. Otherwise a seton (a plastic drain or suture) may be placed through the fistula track. Fistula plugs may also be used.
