Staging of Wilm's tumor:
- Stage I: limited to one kidney with capsule intact and completely excised
- Stage II: through renal capsule but fully excised. There may be local spill of tumor. Renal vessels may contain tumor thrombus.
- Stage III: Residual nonhematogenous tumor confined to abdomen, lymph nodes, diffuse peritoneal spillage, peritoneal implants, tumor beyond the surgical margin.
- Stage IV: Hematogenous metastases to distant organs
- Stage V: bilateral tumors and each kidney should be staged separately.
