SURGICAL ONCOLOGY
Case #5 -
A 52 year old with progressive swelling of the abdomen.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
1.) What additional history should be obtained from this patient?

Most often this tumor presents as an asymptomatic abdominal mass. Infrequently the mass will produce obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract or neurologic symptoms due to compression of lumbar and pelvic nerves. Obstruction of the ureter may also occur. The patient should also be asked about exposure to any known risk factors.
