A 32 year old with severe right sided abdominal pain

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
7.) What are the different kinds of stones in the urinary tract based on composition?

Composition of stones:
  1. Calcium (mainly calcium oxalate and few calcium phosphate) - 80% - radioopaque
  2. Magnesium ammonium phosphate - 10% - opaque - in alkaline urine
  3. Uric acid - 6-10% - in acid urine - radiolucent - seen in gout, post chemotherapy, and in Myeloproliferative disorders
  4. Cysteine - 1% - autosomal recessive
