11.) What are treatment options for palliation and when should these be considered?
|
For advanced disease, hormonal treatment is the mainstay of palliative treatment. This therapy may include bilateral orchiectomy, gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist, and a drug to block adrenal androgen. Results with chemotherapy are poor. Hormonal treatment may sometimes be used as neoadjuvant therapy prior to surgery or radiation.
