A man, aged 70, with a long history of esophageal dysmotility.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
3.) What tests do you wish to order?

Diagnostic tests:

  1. Laboratory: CBC (expect anemia and leucocytosis)

  2. Chest X-ray: density or mass with cavity and possible air-fluid level in the upright position.

  3. CT scan if chest X-ray is equivocal

  4. Bronchoscopy to rule out obstructing tumor and get cultures
