Common infecting organisms:

  1. Community acquired pneumonia - gram positive

  2. Nosocomial pneumonia - gram negative

  3. Aspiration - oral flora, especially Streptococcus and anaerobes

  4. Immunocompromised patients - opportunistic organisms
