Ingrid Van Swearingen, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician who strives to provide care to all patients, particularly those who may have difficulty finding respectful and collaborative care. She enjoys establishing lasting relationships with her patients and providing comprehensive primary care, finding gender-affirming care both fulfilling and important to overall patient wellbeing.<\/p>\n
Her favorite part of family medicine is being able to care for all people throughout the lifespan, especially for whole families. She provides comprehensive care for patients of all ages, genders and backgrounds, including general primary care and routine screening, gender-affirming medications including hormone therapy, trauma-informed care for common chronic conditions and mental health conditions, general pediatric and adolescent medicine, STI screening, prevention, and treatment, contraception including IUD and Nexplanon, trauma-informed reproductive health care for non-pregnant patients (I am not currently doing any pregnancy care), and postpartum care. Dr. Van Swearingen currently only accepts new patients 18 years of age and younger.<\/strong><\/p>\n She works with patients to understand their health (and health struggles) in the larger context of their life, partnering with her patients to come up with an individualized plan for diagnosis, treatment and follow-up that will be right for them, rather than a one-size-fits-all declaration, while still informed by evidence-based science and national guidelines. She will listen, consider, explain, and collaborate with patients, rather than just reflexively Dr. Van Swearingen believes it is an honor and a privilege to be someone’s doctor – she looks forward to working with patients to achieve their health goals and wellbeing!<\/p>\n After completing her family medicine training in Vermont, Dr. Van Swearingen returned to this area to be close to her family, who still live in Edmonds where she grew up.
