His expertise includes mechanistic modeling of biological and pharmacological systems, with a focus on PBPK modeling for nanoparticles, long-acting drugs, and extended-release formulations. Simone has also developed the first whole-body PBPK <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/34673093\/\">lymphatic<\/a> system to study <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/34673094\/\">particle<\/a> and other large molecules (eg, vaccine) distribution in the lymphatic system. He is involved in model-informed drug development for anti-cancer drugs and SARS-CoV2 antivirals, as well as understanding parenteral routes of administration and viral clearance in special populations.<\/p>\n<h4>Bio<\/h4>\n<p>Dr. Perazzolo has more than 10 years of experience in modeling and simulation in life science. Previously, he worked at the University of Virginia (VA) in tuning the FDA-approved glucose-insulin regulation simulator in the so-called <a href=\"https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/diabetes-technology\/\">Artificial Pancreas Project<\/a> under the supervision of Profs C. Cobelli and B. Kovatchev. His Ph.D. is in biomedical engineering and mathematical modeling at the University of Southampton (UK) with a thesis titled \u201c<em>Modelling the Nutrient Transfer across the Placenta<\/em>\u201d under the supervision of Doctor Sengers and placentologist Doctor Lewis. In 2020, Dr. Perazzolo completed his 3-year postdoctoral fellowship at the UW School of Pharmacy under the supervision of Profs <a href=\"https:\/\/sop.washington.edu\/people\/danny-shen\/\">Danny Shen<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/tlcart\/rodney-ho\/\">Rodney Ho<\/a>, with a track record of PK modeling publications about novel long-acting antiretroviral formulations for targeted long-acting HIV therapy, one of which was awarded the June 2020 front page in the <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/32006525\/\"><em>Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Awards, Media and Conferences<\/h4>\n<p>Simone is a two-time recipient of the Outstanding Early Career Scientist award from The Editorial Staff and the American Pharmacists Association for his work in modeling and pharmacokinetics, published in the <em data-start=\"210\" data-end=\"246\">Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences<\/em>, class of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpharmsci.org\/article\/S0022-3549(22)00531-7\/fulltext\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2022<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/jpharmsci.org\/article\/S0022-3549(24)00518-5\/fulltext\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Simone was featured on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7BpQthHGU0I\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italian national TV<\/a> in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 with more than 2 million audience shares.
