Biography

Dr. Bedard-Gilligan co-directs TRI and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington. She received her PhD from the UW in 2009 and has been faculty since 2012. Her research has been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, and the Alcohol Beverage Medical Research Foundation. Her research is applied in nature and predominantly focuses on mechanisms of recovery in PTSD, with a particular emphasis on treatment outcome and mechanisms of change in recovery from trauma and the co-occurrence of PTSD and substance use disorders. She has presented her research at national conferences and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals. She also maintains an active clinical practice specializing in using empirically supported treatments for PTSD and other anxiety disorders at the University of Washington Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic and the Center for Pain Relief. She is involved in training and supervising individuals in the use of empirically supported treatments for PTSD and other disorders.
