UW TRIO Training

University of Washington TRIO Training is a U.S. Department of Education funded opportunity for TRIO staff hosted by the Vice President for Minority Affairs & Diversity, University of Washington. Since 2000 UW TRIO Training has also hosted the TRIO Quest Activities exclusively for TRIO Students and Staff.

Training is offered to approximately 1000 Staff in TRIO Programs throughout the country under two different federally-established priorities:

  • Priority 1 for all TRIO Staff: Record keeping, performance reporting, and project evaluation
  • Priority 3 for all TRIO Staff: Student need assessment, proven retention and graduation strategies, and the effective use of educational technology

For twenty years this grantee has provided training consistently rated by trainees as "exceptional" in its usefulness (over a 4.7 on a Likert Scale of 1 – 5 with 5 being high). Most recently, trainees rated their confidence in the expertise of the trainers as 4.7 on this Likert scale. The training has also repeatedly received accolades for challenging and innovative training techniques for adult learners. Each year, staff and trainers have reassessed, reinvented and reorganized the schedule, the content, and the evaluation criteria.
