About Suna

Suna was born in İstanbul and grew up in Ankara. She attended the Middle Eastern Technical University and became an engineer in 1980. After meeting her husband in Ankara she came to the U.S. in 1986 for her husband’s job and began working at Boeing in 1989. She worked in both management and non-management positions for over 20 years and moved back to Turkey for a few years before coming to the U.S. again. Her son was born in Turkey and she celebrates both Turkish and American culture at home with her family. She finds it important to speak Turkish at home with her family. She has been involved in the Turkish-American community, both through being on the board of the Turkish American Cultural Association of Washington and helping plan Turkfest. Although she never planned on staying in the U.S. she emphasizes making the most of her life and what it brings her.
