p_clr.gif (2534 bytes)rofessor Clauss' lecture covered Mythology and the social structure of the Greeks and Romans.  During the first few weeks of lecture, Professor Clauss informed us about the many things that myths explain.  First of all, we learned that myths explain why things are the way they are today. They also explain pre-historical events.  In addition, myths also teach morals, as well as, entertain.

Professor Clauss also talked about the beginning of Earth.  How was Earth created?  We explored this question through the many different creation myths and the many different explanations about the beginning of time.  Myths from different cultures can be very different but they also allow us to understand the differences. With this, Professor Clauss gave us an assignment to write our own myths to explain why things are the way they are today.
