Position: ThinkQuest Instructor/UB Bridge Instructor

Educational Background (degrees): English, History, Education

Years with UB: 10

# of years planning with stay with UB: The only thing that will change my plans to stay with UB is if I win A LOT of money; even then, I'm not sure I could leave the program entirely.

Why did you decide to work for Upward Bound?

I decided to work for UB because I love the philosophy behind this program: to provide equal access for students to become the best they can be academically. This program is passionately and actively involved with its students to help them become their best. There is nothing better than seeing one of your students win scholarships and attend the university of their choice; especially if that opportunity might not have been available to him/her without UB.

What did you expect from this program? (e.g. students, class  structure)

This program exceeded any expectation that I may have had for it when I began. The staff is professional, knowledgeable, and very dedicated. (They are also a lot of fun to hang around with!) The level of dedication to the students is the best I have seen from any program. I feel very fortunate to have a chance to participate with UB and its staff.

What do you do for fun in your spare time?

I read, buy books, talk with my best friend (my husband, Ben), chat with my kids (Kim, Zack, Kevin, Shaun), chase my granddaughter's around (Hope and Star), cook, take strolls, and nap in my car by the water at Golden Gardens.

Any last comments..........

      UB rocks.
