College Prep literally prepares Upward Bound students for the rigors of college admission that will occur in their senior year. The class discusses college survival, ways to improve one's chance of college admission, sources of financial assistance for college, characteristics of effective college essays, among others things.
While reviewing the format and language of effective business letters, the students create letters for admission offices of various colleges and universities. They prepare support documents such as academic resumes, letters, requests for recommendation, letters to scholarship foundations, and typical college essays.
