What is the craziest thing you've seen an instructor or student do during your time in the Upward Bound Program?

One time we were on a fun end of the summer picnic and everyone was having a great time.  Suddenly one of the staff or students, I'm not sure which, started tossing water balloons at each other (the guys of course).  Well, this one student kept getting all the male staff really good and they finally got fed up.  They caught the student (who had good aim) and in the water he went!  He learned his lesson well -staff do have a breaking point!

What interest you in becoming a staff member at Upward Bound?

I enjoy education and learning in all its context.  When I first met Upward Bound Students, I knew they were a great group and I wanted to work with them. To this day I value each and every Upward Bound Student and enjoy helping them achieve their academic goals.

How long have you been a member of the University of Washington's Upward Bound Program?

I've been in Upward Bound thirteen years now --boy does time fly!

Besides being here during the summer, where else would you rather spend your time?

I would love to spend time at the Ocean OR in Las Vegas. I grew up playing on the beaches at Ocean Shores and I have never been to Las Vegas! If I had the money, Europe would do....
