UDOC is an amazing window into the field of health care. It provides you with many of the connections, opportunities, and support you will need to pursue a career in the medical field in college. Throughout the program, UDOC pushes you to the come out of your comfort zone and become the person that you’ve always wanted to be. Even if you’re unsure about going into the medical field, you’ll be presented with such a variety of careers I assure you you’ll be focused in on the action. One day, you may encounter a flight nurse on his or her way to an accident in the middle of a freeway by helicopter. Another day, you may be able to see a live surgery take place in the operating room. If that weren’t enough to pique your interest, UDOC also provides time away from it all. Every week there’s a planned fieldtrip, whether at 8000 feet on Mt. Rainier, or at sea level on a trip to a nice beach. Of course, both worlds of work and play would mean nothing without the friends you make during the program. Being a relatively small group, mine was 20 people, the five weeks that you spend together with the people you live with bonds you together like super glue. Whether it’s at the dinner table with $748 on your meal card, or in the lounge having a fierce ping-pong game, the other people in the program with you are going to become your family. It’s with this family during the summer, that you’ll be able to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience learning about the incredible field of health care and how it will lead you down the road to your own personal success. |
