Casey King\"casey_king\"<\/a><\/h1>\n

Casey King, 16, is in the 10th grade at the Tacoma School of the Arts. He was initially diagnosed with ADHD in 1st grade, but standard medication didn\u2019t really address the problems he had dealing with the world. By 5th grade he had turned into an apathetic, angry young man. When his father randomly picked up \u201cThe Autism Book\u201d by Robert W Sears, MD, FAAP, he realized that Casey had Asperger\u2019s. One thing that has been constant in Casey\u2019s life is art. Casey has worked with oil pastels, charcoal and watercolor, and is currently focused on pen and pencil sketching. Casey was a featured speaker in April of 2013 at \u201cArtists Revealed\u201d held at The Heart of the Spectrum Art Center, in Seattle, WA and was featured in several news tories in 2012, including a segment for Autism Awareness month on FOX Q13 News, Tacoma Weekly and Seattle City Living, and was a featured artist in the July 2012 issue of MAZ. He was also the subject of a feature story for the Tacoma School District monthly publication \u201cWebucator. He has exhibited his work at Starbucks in Pioneer Square, the Upstairs in Belltown, the July 2012 Pioneer Square Art Walk, and some of Casey\u2019s art has been purchased by collectors in Washington and California.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
