Our program is part of a large, national research network and is funded by the National Institutes of Health\u00a0<em>Autism Centers of Excellence<\/em>\u00a0(ACE) program and previously by the\u00a0<em>Studies to Advance Autism Research and Treatment<\/em>\u00a0(STAART) and <em>Collaborative Programs of Excellence in Autism<\/em> (CPEA). Collaboration is essential as we address the questions confronting individuals, families, and the larger autism community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our research efforts are focused on:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Increasing early diagnosis of autism and related disorders<\/li>\n<li>Understanding the neurobiological basis of autism<\/li>\n<li>Understanding brain functioning, language, and cognitive development in autism<\/li>\n<li>Identifying early biological and behavioral predictors of outcome<\/li>\n<li>Developing and assessing behavioral services for autism<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/uwautism\/about\/uw-autism-center-tacoma\/\">UW Autism Center has a satellite clinic on the UW Tacoma campus<\/a>.
