Volunteer opportunities within North Creek High School include assisting high school students with the development of the necessary skills to prepare for success in college and work. As a classroom tutor, you will provide positive support and constructive feedback. Classroom assistants become good listeners, care about and develop skills in positive youth development, and help high school students prepare for life after high school.

AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness program designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college or post-high school.  The program places special emphasis on growing writing, math, critical thinking, teamwork, organization and reading skills. UW student volunteers would be working with small groups under the direction of the teacher. We understand the quarter system at UW, but are hoping for a school year long commitment, as this will offer important consistency for our students, and a valuable and rewarding community connection experience for UW students to include on resumes.

Classroom Tutors support the learning environment in the classroom. Teachers and Tutors work together to improve students’ academic skills, sense of belonging, and confidence.
