The Summer Research Awards (formerly known as Founders Fellows) provides $1500 awards to support UW Bothell undergraduate students participating in a structured research or creative project over the summer.
Requirements:
-You must have a UW faculty or staff mentor
-You must be an undergraduate student at UW Bothell. (Students who are graduating in June and are not enrolled in summer or fall courses are not eligible.)
-You must commit to completing 50 or more hours of mentored research or creative projects work over the course of Summer Term A and/or B.
-You must be available to attend a one-day Summer Research Institute (Friday, June 20, 10am-3pm) and participate in at least some of the eight Summer Fundamentals research workshops (Wednesdays 2-3:30pm between June 23-August 13). Conflicts will be considered and alternate arrangements can be made on a case-by-case basis.
-You must provide a Connected Learning News blog article (min 3 paragraphs) with an image that summarizes your research experience when you are finished. Posted at https://www.uwb.edu/connected-learning-news.Other:
-You will be provided funding up to $1500 for a summer workload that is equal to 50 hours.
-Fewer hours are allowed for a smaller stipend. More hours for a larger stipend (up to $3000) will be considered but are not guaranteed.
-Payments to students are usually paid at the end of the project, but it may vary depending on the situation.
-Payments vary by student financial aid eligibility, enrollment in credits during summer, who the student is working for, and/or citizenship status. Ideally, payments will be given as a stipend-scholarship during summer. Sometimes, we have to pay the student as a UW employee or delay payment to the student during fall when they are enrolled. Each case will be discussed with the student when the award is announced.
