Context: This community-based learning position contributes to the mission of the House of Wisdom by extending our impact to the immigrant, refugee, and international student community in America.

Our mission is to provide accessible and affordable one on one Math and English tutoring specifically tailored for immigrants, refugees, and international students. We provide tutoring for students ranging from kindergarten to adults.

As a Project Manager, your responsibilities will include leading tutoring sessions in the House of Wisdoms Lake City location and coordinating tutor scheduling. You will also be responsible for updating the House of Wisdoms Leadership team about the status and progress of your respective location.

Key Responsibilities:

Class Management

  • Lead our in-person classes in Seattle and Snohomish County, ensuring the proper pairing between tutors and students that aligns with student needs and tutor capabilities
  • Overseeing the smooth operation of classes, creating a positive and welcoming learning environment

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Communicate with students and parents to understand their unique tutoring needs and learning styles and effectively convey this information to the tutors
  • Communicate with students, parents, and educators about tutoring classes and student progress
  • Provide regular updates to the leadership team regarding the progress and status of tutoring classes

Assistance in Project Development

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of current and future projects in collaboration with the leadership team
  • Contribute ideas for effective ways to enhance the tutoring experience for students

Scheduling and Logistics

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of tutoring schedules
  • Assist in coordinating logistics to ensure the smooth operation of tutoring classes

Tutor Support

  • Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of tutors, ensuring they have the necessary information and resources
  • Tutor students in Math and/or English as needed

Data Entry and Reporting

  • Assist in collecting and entering data related to tutoring services
  • Contribute to the preparation of regular reports on the impact and effectiveness of the tutoring program

Impact: As a Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to help both students and tutors in achieving their personal and academic goals. With this position you will be able to serve underprivileged families and help their children thrive in school. You will also be able to support tutors so that they can be a part of the House of Wisdom to the best of their ability.

Times: Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a college degree program
  • Must be able to travel to the House of Wisdom’s location in Lake City
  • Reliable and dependable; commitment to follow through on tasks
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to provide excellent tutoring in Math and/or English
  • Adaptability and flexibility to varying needs in classes
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus
