Wildfire Smoke Risk to Young Children in the Urban Pacific Northwest
Project Description:
Wildfires are expected to increase in frequency and scale, with more communities exposed to smoke. This project is designed to better understand the environmental justice context for smoke inhalation risks to children in the urban Pacific Northwest.
Project Goals:
– Understand differentiated smoke inhalation risks for young children.
– Provide child care settings with feasible risk management options.
– Influence policy strategies to make adaptation options available and affordable for vulnerable urban communities.
Student Responsibilities:
– Literature reviews
– Ethnographic analysis (interviews, surveys)
– Data collection & data management (entry, cleaning, visualization)
– Data analysis (GIS, statistics, thematic, etc.)
