Project Goals : This project will collect financial data for IPO firms during pre-IPO years using SEC filings, which will be provided. Research assistants’ goals are to identify and analyze IPO firms’ financial data in pre-IPO period.
Student Qualifications : Require detail-oriented data collection skills, have an interest in financial accounting in general and financial accounting research in particular, self-motived, commit to this research at least for one quarter.
Student Outcomes : Students will become familiar with SEC filings for IPO firms. This project will help students acquire enormous knowledge about IPO firms’ financial statements in pre-IPO period. Learn how to look for useful information from public resources. Student researchers will engage quantitative research using public data.
Student Responsibilities : Read IPO proxy statements and the foot notes of the financial statements in the proxies. Find and collect key financial data.
Time Frame : The time frame is one quarter. The length of the project depends on student pace and availability. I do not require a fixed number of hours per week but bi-weekly meeting may be necessary to check RA’s progress. I am currently at Hong Kong Polytechnic University so students will be supervised using remote technologies.
