Research Collective: Geographies of Attachment, Networks of Belonging

Year of Funding:
2010/2011

The Asian American Studies Research Collective (AASRC), an interdisciplinary group of graduate students, engaged with the cultural and political manifestations of Asian America. They focused on Asian American networks and geographies by hosting reading groups and microseminars with a number of UW faculty whose research interests dwell outside the usual purview of Asian American Studies. Our main goal was to generate an understanding of the field’s margins and limits through a more comparative, transnational, and intersectional focus, which will allow for more mindful engagement with Asian American communities within the field.
