{"id":1313,"date":"2021-05-25T15:26:14","date_gmt":"2021-05-25T22:26:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/devuwcps\/course\/gwss-590b-special-topics\/"},"modified":"2021-05-25T15:26:14","modified_gmt":"2021-05-25T22:26:14","slug":"gwss-590b-special-topics","status":"publish","type":"course","link":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/uwcps\/course\/gwss-590b-special-topics\/","title":{"rendered":"GWSS 590B  &#8211;  Special Topics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Performing Black Queer Gender(s) considers how black feminist philosophers, queer &#038; trans theorists, and performance theorists approach the historical production of racialized sexuality, situating performance as an optic through which the evolving visibility of, and politics that inhere in, black queer\/ness takes shape more broadly.<br \/>\nThe course pays particular attention to the strains of black feminist theory by Hortense Spillers and others who, in their historical, materialist approaches to the (co-)construction of categories of race, gender, and sexuality\u2014as well as Body, Human, Subject, and Citizen\u2014pose trenchant critiques of queer and performance studies that implicitly stabilize the liberal humanist subject.
