Her talk is titled:\u00a0\u00a0&#8220;&#8216;Outrageous American Home Truths&#8217;: Blackgirl Wit, Imagination, and Folklore in Contemporary Musical Theatre.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>La Donna L. Forsgren\u00a0is an Associate Professor in the Department of Film, Television, and Theatre at the University of Notre Dame. She is the author of\u00a0<i>Sistuhs in the Struggle: An Oral History of Black Arts Movement Theatre and Performance<\/i>\u00a0(Northwestern UP 2020)\u00a0and\u00a0<i>In Search of Our Warrior Mothers: Women Dramatists of the Black Arts Movement\u00a0<\/i>(Northwestern UP 2018). She is the recipient of the 2016 Robert A. Schanke Theatre Research Award and\u00a0<em>2020 Oscar G. Brockett Essay Prize for<\/em>\u00a0her research on Black queer feminist spectatorship and\u00a0<i>The Wiz<\/i>. She serves as\u00a0Associate Editor for\u00a0<i>Theatre Survey<\/i>, a theatre history journal chartered by the American Society for Theatre Research. When she is not working on\u00a0her current monograph\u2014tentatively titled\u00a0<i>Black Girlhood on the Musical Stage<\/i>\u2014she spends hours and hours playing an original game called &#8220;Creepy Mommy&#8221; with her kids. &#8220;Creepy Mommy&#8221; is a cross between the video game &#8220;Hello Neighbor,&#8221; hide and seek, and the movie\u00a0<i>Tangled<\/i>.
