The latter will deliver purviews of artistic disciplines practiced at their homeland and that challenge the dominating grand narrative.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Having as a title &#8220;Landscapes of Erasure and Presence&#8221;, the first encounter of &#8220;Dis-Orient: Autumn talks&#8221; will host\u00a0three panelists sharing their research practices around architecture &amp; theatre.\u00a0\u00a0Thus, choreographies of spaces as architectural manifestations of monumentality, bigness and Mega-presence are negotiated and reshaped by the disenfrenchized in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. On a similar vein, on\u00a0the stage, racial politics &#8211; most notably blackface performances &#8211; transform to be a vehicle for national identity building, modernization and decolonization in China while in Turkey, Karagoz a phallic shadow theatre figure during the Ottoman empire is subject to castration during the Modern Turkey.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><u><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Presentations:\u00a0<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">\u201cCensoring the little man- a Karagoz story\u201d | Duygu Monson Erdogan<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">\u201cBeyond Bigness: Landscapes of the disenfranchised in Mega Cities\u201d | Lamis Ashour<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>\u201cPerforming race in early modern China\u201d | Weiyu Li<\/strong><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">We would be happy if you can attend. Decentering the dominant narratives in the Humanities\u2019 field is one of the germane foregrounds hoped to be achieved by the Cluster\u2019s members.
