At one point in their careers, Jeff Daniels, Swoosie Kurtz, William Hurt, Christopher Reeve, Kathy Bates, Richard Thomas, Cynthia Nixon, John Procaccino and UW alumna Lori Larsen all sank their teeth into the meaty roles of this comedic drama. Now faculty member Valerie Curtis-Newton directs second-year PATP students and gives them that same exciting opportunity. Set in rural Missouri in 1977, Fifth of July revolves around the Talley family and focuses on their disillusionment with America in the wake of the Vietnam War. Wilson’s poignant play is rife with acting challenges while actively confronting many American taboos.

Join director Valerie Curtis-Newton for an opening night dinner on Friday, November 15 at the UW Club. Curtis-Newton will reveal her process for bringing this play to life. Dinner reservations are made through the UW Club at 206-543-0437 or uwclub@uw.edu.

A post-show talk will be held on Thursday, November 21.
