Dr. Opel currently practices inpatient general pediatrics at Seattle Children's Hospital. His research interests include provider-parent communication, health communication, public health ethics, and clinical ethics consultation. His current research involves developing evidence-based communication strategies for providers who encounter parents who refuse or delay childhood immunizations. Dr. Opel also teaches on general ethics topics and ethical issues in pediatrics to medical students, residents, fellows, and law students.
