Please use the following checklist to assist GEMS in providing a quick and successful graduation for your students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Checklist<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Before you recommend a student for graduation in MyGrad, verify the following:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the master\u2019s degree request indicates the correct degree code; contact GEMS if the degree code is incorrect<\/li>\n<li>department contingencies have been cleared<\/li>\n<li>petitions, if necessary, have been submitted\u00a0<em>and<\/em>\u00a0approved by GEMS<\/li>\n<li>required courses have grades appearing on the degree audit<\/li>\n<li>all requirements appear\u00a0<span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>OK<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>(satisfied) on the degree audit; see exceptions under\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Requirement Status on Degree Audit<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0in the below section.<\/li>\n<li>current quarter grades have posted to the transcript<\/li>\n<li>the warrant has been printed; see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/webapps.grad.uw.edu\/mgp-dept\/instruct\/printwarrants.asp\">MGP Help<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Deadlines<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>June 18:<\/strong>\u00a0Per UW Registrar Office, grades due from faculty at 5 p.m. via GradeBook\/GradePage<\/li>\n<li><strong>June 19:<\/strong>\u00a0Graduation recommendations due from GPAs\/GPCs at 5 p.m. via MyGrad for\u00a0<em>priority<\/em>\u00a0graduation<\/li>\n<li><b>June 24<\/b>: Graduation recommendations due from GPAs\/GPCs at 5 p.m. via MyGrad<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are unable to make recommendations by the\u00a0<strong>5\u00a0<\/strong><strong>p.m.,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Monday,\u00a0June 24th\u00a0<\/strong>deadline, email GEMS at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:gemshelp@uw.edu\">gemshelp@uw.edu<\/a>\u00a0with the student\u2019s name and student number.<\/p>\n<p>As always, thank you for your support in providing graduate students with a positive UW experience.<\/p>\n<h2>Requirement Status on Degree Audit<\/h2>\n<p>The Degree Audit is color-coded to help you quickly identify the status of requirements:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ffcc00;\">IP<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 The requirement is satisfied when the current or in-progress courses are completed.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">NO<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The requirement has not been satisfied.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">OK<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The requirement has been satisfied.<\/p>\n<p>You can run the Degree Audit from the Student Detail Page in MGP to verify that\u00a0<strong>all<\/strong>\u00a0requirements appear\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">OK<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>with a few exceptions:<\/p>\n<p>The following requirements will always appear as\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">NO<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>because they are satisfied by GEMS during graduation processing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thesis accepted by the Graduate School<\/li>\n<li>Thesis written in English<\/li>\n<li>Dissertation accepted by the Graduate School<\/li>\n<li>Dissertation written in English<\/li>\n<li>Registered as a graduate student the quarter the Final Exam is taken<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following requirement will appear as\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">NO<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0if the student is paying the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/grad.uw.edu\/policies-procedures\/general-graduate-student-policies\/graduate-registration-waiver-fee\/\">Graduate Registration Waiver Fee<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain registration as a graduate student through the end of the quarter in which the degree is conferred<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>All<\/strong>\u00a0other requirements should appear\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">OK<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0before you recommend graduation in MyGrad.<\/p>\n<h2>Degree Audit Tips<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Examine the\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #ffcc00;\">IP<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0requirements closely. Sometimes grades are missing for required courses taken in previous quarters\/years.<\/li>\n<li>Do not recommend graduation if an\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #ffcc00;\">IP<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0course is a required course.
