We will be updating <\/span><span style=\"color: #3366ff; font-size: 12pt;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/grad.uw.edu\/policies-procedures\/graduate-school-memoranda\/memo-8-graduate-school-english-language-proficiency-requirements\/\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Segoe UI', sans-serif;\">Memo 8<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;\">: Graduate School English Language Proficiency Requirements and <\/span><span style=\"color: #3366ff; font-size: 12pt;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/grad.uw.edu\/policies-procedures\/graduate-school-memoranda\/memo-15-conditions-of-appointment-for-tas-who-are-not-native-speakers-of-english\/\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Segoe UI', sans-serif;\">Memo 15<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">:<\/span> Conditions of Appointment for TAs who are not Native Speakers of English with details including these scores:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;\">Memo 8: IELTS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"xxxmsonormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;\">\u00a0\u00a0 Minimum Required Score (ELP Required): 6.5<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"xxxmsonormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;\">\u00a0\u00a0 Recommended Score (ELP Satisfied): 7.0 or higher<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;\">Memo 15: IELTS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"xxxmsonormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;\">Demonstrate spoken English proficiency with a test score of at least 7.0 on the speaking section of the IELTS.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;\">We are notifying you now so you can begin communicating this information to prospective students. We anticipate that students will be able to self-report IELTS in the Graduate Application for Admission by <strong>Friday, July 23<\/strong>, and will update you once that change is in place. The IELTS is an addition to the other English language proficiency tests currently accepted by the Graduate School. Scores for all of these tests are valid for two years and must be valid on the date the application is submitted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;\">As a reminder, the Graduate School sets minimum required scores for demonstrating English language proficiency. Programs may require higher scores.
