The HQSC is committed to publicizing the efforts and cataloging the contributions of UW Medicine trainees to improve the safety, quality, and value of care delivered across our hospitals.
We recognize and celebrate their accomplishments through two internal publications, the annual HOUSE journal and quarterly BRICK newsletter.
HOUSE is our internal publication showcasing completed improvement work undertaken by our dedicated trainees and talented faculty. This glossy publication is produced once a year and is widely available to UW Medicine faculty, administrators, and housestaff. It is protected by quality improvement confidentiality and privilege clauses set forth by UW Medicine.
HQSC is always looking for new projects or improvement-related trainee experiences to feature in an upcoming edition of HOUSE. As HOUSE circulation is limited to within UW Medicine, inclusion of your work does not bar you from seeking publication in a peer-reviewed journal later on. Works can be submitted elsewhere as opportunities arise. We encourage you to be recognized for your efforts, add a notch to your CV, and share improvement triumphs with your colleagues by submitting to HOUSE!

BRICK is the companion newsletter to our annual internal journal, HOUSE. BRICK contains information about ongoing improvement-related activity in a bite-sized, graphically-rich format. While HOUSE is meant to showcase completed project work, BRICK is intended to be a more relaxed forum and resource for the community. BRICK is a building block of HOUSE and comes out quarterly.
