{"id":587,"date":"2020-06-08T17:54:40","date_gmt":"2020-06-08T17:54:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/uwpeds\/medstudents\/?p=587"},"modified":"2026-05-18T17:05:52","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T17:05:52","slug":"covid-19-ppe-and-medical-students-at-sch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/uwpeds\/medstudents\/?p=587","title":{"rendered":"Masking and PPE Requirements at SCH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"top\" \/>\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Effective 05\/05\/2026:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Masking<\/strong> is optional for workforce members, patients, caregivers, and visitors during clinical encounters and in all other settings except:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Masks are required for all parties within the ED and Urgent Care lobbies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Masks should be used by patients, caregivers, and visitors with fever or respiratory symptoms. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With measles spreading in the community, please encourage masking especially for symptomatic people to help protect high-risk patients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eye protection<\/strong> is only required based on standard and transmission-based precautions. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Respirators <\/strong>are only required when working with symptomatic patients whose COVID-19 and\/or influenza status is unknown.
