PREP is aimed at underrepresented, underprivileged, and disabled students who recently graduated with a scientific baccalaureate degree and who have a strong interest in pursuing a graduate degree in biomedical doctoral programs (Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.) Particularly suitable candidates would be students who:
- may not have the necessary laboratory experience
- may have decided late in their undergraduate career to pursue a career in the biomedical field
- may need additional upper-level coursework to strengthen their applications for graduate school
Trainee profile
- individuals who are US citizens or hold permanent resident status
- members of groups underrepresented in biomedical sciences, including economically disadvantaged students and those with disabilities
- students who lack substantial research experience
- GPA of at least 3.0 (exceptions apply on a case-by-case basis)
PREP scholars must commit to applying to at least five PhD Programs within the completion of the program
The program is not designed for individuals contemplating a professional degree (M.D., Pharm.D., D.D.S., etc).
