Chronology:

1838- Born January 16 in Marienberg, Hesse-Nausau, Germany.

1964- Ordained a Roman Catholic priest.

1866- Appointed as lecturer in philosophy at the University of Würzburg.

1872- Appointed as Professor of Philosophy at University of Würzburg.

1873- Resigned from from his professorship and priesthood.

1874- Appointed professor at the University of Vienna.

1880- His decision to marry Ida Lieben was blocked by Austrian authorities.

He was forced to resign from his professorship and then moved to Leipzig

with his wife.

1881-1895- He was allowed to return to Univeristy of Vienna as an unsalaried

lecturer.

1888- His son, Johannes Christian Michael, was born.

1893- His wife Ida, passed away.

1895- Left his postition in Vienna to move to Italy.

1897- Married Emilie Rueprecht.

1903- After two eye operations, he remained almost completely blind.

1915- Moved to Zurich

1917- After a relapse from appendicitis, he died on March 17.
