Chronology:

1882- Born on April 14 in Berlin.

1904- Finished his doctorate studies in physics under Max Planck (after studying in

both Heidelberg and Lausanne).

1911- Held a teaching post at the University of Rostock.

1921- Held a teaching post at the Unversity of Kiel

1922- Professor of the Philosophy of Inductive Sciences at the University of Vienna.

1929- Held a visiting professorship at Stanford University.

1936- Shot and killed by a mentally unstable student in Vienna on June 22.
