  • Attend Walk a Mile Training in Seattle
  • Recruit liaison organizations
  • Enroll endorsers for credibility and bi-partisan support
  • Invite keynote speaker for Opening Event
  • Conduct training for liaisons
  • Liaisons identify and enroll low-income participants in each district
  • Send invitations to policymakers and enroll “front-runners”
  • Send press release
  • Make follow-up calls to legislators & collect registration forms
  • Create public support: constituent calls, letters to the editor, attend public meetings, write newsletter articles
  • Send welcome packets to participating policymakers
  • Send match information to liaisons (for low-income participants) and to policymakers
  • Continue to enroll and match participants
  • Manage the scheduling of first contacts between matches
  • Organize Opening Event
  • Liaisons help prepare low-income participants for visit with policymaker
  • Send second  press release
  • Opening Event
  • Maintain weekly contact with liaisons to monitor matches and keep track of activities
  • Follow-up with policy-makers who have not contacted their matches
  • Answer media inquires and set-up interviews
  • Share successes and media with WAM National
  • Hold Closing Celebration
  • Mail and follow-up with evaluations
  • Acknowledge contributors
  • Relax and look forward to your WAM project next year!
  • Coordinators complete project evaluations and final reports by March
