STUDENT STORIES

Derek Ferguson
Derek Ferguson is enrolled in the Nursing Program at Clark College. Derek found a strong sense of community he felt he could identify with as a STEM student of color. Through MESA, both his grades and his confidence increased.
“I wanted a profession where I could gain respect and economic security, a career in a STEM field can help me achieve that. It’s important for underrepresented people to have those positions of power.”                                          –
