Position Summary
The Washington Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Achievement (MESA) Program is a statewide organization committed to building pathways to college and careers in STEM for traditionally underrepresented minority (URM) students, including women, Native American/Alaska Natives, African American, Hispanic/Latinx, and Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders.   WA MESA seeks to work with a dynamic, self-starter to assist in boosting brand awareness and visibility. This internship is a great opportunity to hone marketing or branding skills while working for the best STEM initiative in the state of Washington!
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties include: Optimize rebranding efforts by creating products and tools to be employed by WA MESA stakeholders.Develop plan to increase awareness and visual impressions and physical environment of WA MESA.Assist with the marketing plan to advertise and communicate rebranding messaging to current and potential WA MESA stakeholders.Contribute to efforts “telling the story” of WA MESA through various social media platforms.Establish and manage budget associated with marketing and branding activities.Other duties as assigned by supervisor.  

Eligibility and Qualifications Must be a current student at the University of Washington.Knowledge of marketing, brand marketing, public relations, or advertising.Creative thinker and problem-solver.Aptitude with various social media platforms (knowledge of tracking tools associated with them is a plus).Strong verbal and written communication.Ability to take direction, absorb information, and produce product/task quickly.Demonstrate good organizational skills and ability to prioritize project tasks.Project management skills or knowledge of project management tools and techniques, a plus.

Hours/Time Up to 14 hours per week; 3-quarters (Autumn 2021, Winter 2022 & Spring 2022)
Compensation This is a paid internship (UW minimum wage).
