Business Meeting: This year members engaged in very productive section breakout sessions during the business meeting. Lunch: WSAS member, Dr. George "Pinky" Nelson, retired Professor, Western Washington University, introduced the students guests, and teachers. A special thank you to The Boeing Co. and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Battelle, that sponsored our visiting teachers and students. The WSAS staff received many thank you's from the teachers and students for their invitation to participate in the event. Symposium: Symposium chair and new WSAS President, Nancy Woods, started the symposium with an introduction of Dr. Charles Hirschman. Hirschman gave an excellent analysis of health disparities in the U.S. and how we compare to the rest of the world. of the . Speakers engaged the audience in several discussions regarding health disparities in Washington state and the community strategies employed to deal with them. New Member Induction: The long informative day culminated with welcoming the 18 new members followed by a reception and dinner.
