Jake Grumbach Featured in New York Times Vote-by-Mail Interactive Article

Professor Jake Grumbach’s new paper, examining the effect of vote-by-mail in Colorado, was utilized in a New York Times interactive article to understand what the effect of vote-by-mail might have been had it been adopted in all 50 states in 2016. While in Colorado, vote-by-mail increased voter turnout for everyone and particularly those who have been historically disenfranchised and young voters, according to this analysis by Nathanial Lash that effect would not have changed the outcome of the presidential election in 2016. He finds that although Democrats may have enjoyed a boost in turnout in states they already fared well in, that effect would not have been enough to deliver a Hillary Clinton victory.
