Lead Greeter (Flying Heritage Collection), Vulcan

The Lead Greeter will work alongside a team of Greeters to provide customer service to all guests of the Flying Heritage Collection, providing information on a wide range of topics, from directions to the Museum, to directions to the nearest restaurant.  The Lead Greeter demonstrates proficient knowledge of ticketing, store merchandise, and inventory. This position is responsible for reconciling petty cash and assisting with the gift shop including purchasing, displaying and record keeping.  The Lead Greeter also performs Volunteer Coordination duties including recruiting, training and scheduling. This position is the central point of contact on the weekends and is responsible to notify the Operations Manager of any issues.  As such, working weekends and Holidays is part of the regular work assignments.

Essential duties and responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Create and manage schedule for adequate greeter coverage.
  • Recruit, train and coordinate volunteers for the museum.
  • Purchase and oversee the gift shop merchandise in conjunction with the Store Committee.
  • Conduct physical inventory of merchandise as well as maintaining accurate records in the POS system.
  • Maintain weekly gift shop, admissions and revenue reports.
  • Oversee sales of merchandise and sales outside of two main gift stores at special events.
  • Operate point of sale system for ticket and gift shop sales with accuracy.
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions, perform cash reconciliation at the end of each day.
  • Reconcile and track Petty Cash.
  • Maintain knowledge of the gift shop inventory in order to sell or answer customer questions.
  • Maintain knowledge of Visitor Service operation to provide accurate information and excellent customer service.
  • Keep assigned work area clean, stocked, and safe.
  • Answer telephone, direct calls accordingly and demonstrate professional phone etiquette.
  • Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity and fulfillment of commitments
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Multi-lingual skills or proficiency in sign language preferred.

  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)


Preferred computer skills

  • Experience with QuickBooks POS

Education/experience/certifications

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and 1 plus year relevant experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record and safe operation of vehicles is required.
